MEMORIAL BALL HOCKEY GAME TODAY IN HONOUR OF EVERETT'S ALISHA WILSON

2019-04-14

A charity ball hockey game is taking place today in memory of Everett teen Alisha Wilson to help raise money to help other teens struggling with mental health challenges.

The game takes place from 4-6 p.m. at the Alliston Memorial Arena located at 49 Nelson St. W., Alliston.

Wilson, a 14-year-old Grade 9 student at Banting Memorial High School, died by suicide Nov. 9, 2018.

“We need to honour Alisha’s life and raise awareness for mental health,” wrote Alisha’s friend Nicholas Chiasson, who came up with the idea for the game. “Many of us are still struggling with the loss of Alisha and kids need to know there are places in the community to turn to for help.”

All of the proceeds from the event will be donated to New Path Youth and Family Services, which has eight offices across Simcoe County, including one in Alliston. The organization provides mental health services to youth, and their families, for anyone under the age of 18.

There will be special pink T-shirts sold at the game for $20, along with cookies, hotdogs and drinks.
